In 1970, Bob Doyle trekked from Albany, New York to Denver to operate a handful of submarine sandwich shops. Venturing to Vail in 1977 he opened The Menu, offering affordable breakfasts, soups, subs and deli sandwiches. In 1990, he took his next step and opened the Jackalope — a southwestern eatery in West Vail, named for the fictitious rabbit with antlers.
Bob moved to Avon in 1992 and opened the first Bob’s Place, a small comfortable bar with satellite TVs and a game room, famous for great breakfasts. Bob’s Place relocated to its current spot in the Lodge at Avon Center in 2000, and continues to be family owned and operated, always giving the best value and service to locals and visitors alike.
The bar is the perfect spot to cheer your favorite team on one of our 27 HD plasma satellite screens or play a game of pool or foosball.
Showcasing famous and infamous Bobs on the walls, the separate family friendly dining room offers a casual, quieter alternative for meetings or a meal — with the same quality in TV sport viewing. Or relax on our patio
in the summer.
