Epicurean Adventures

Get Together and Play! To be sure, the primary reason most travel to the Rocky Mountains and the resorts of Vail and Beaver Creek are to hit the slopes in winter or for hiking and biking in summer. However, adventures abound beyond those activities—and many include a culinary component to enhance the fun. Whether seeking alternative indoor adventures
to escape foul weather or craving exciting adventures with destination dining, the following are some suggested outings that young and old can enjoy together. Many are tame, where the whole family can participate, others more strenuous, but all
are about having fun and reconnecting with one another.

Take in a Movie on the
Big Screen

Small screens have come to rule our lives, and the ways we consume entertainment has evolved, but there’s something to be said for the communal experience of watching a story unfold on a three-story screen. Without distraction or disruption—the sheer scale has a unique ability to sweep you away. Help keep this heightened sensory experience alive by supporting the area's two movie theatres: the Capital Theatre in Eagle, or the Riverwalk Theatre in Edwards. Whether it’s date night or you’re getting a big group together, it's difficult to match the buttery perfection of movie theater popcorn, but you’ll find the Riverwalk Theater has really stepped up its concessions game! In addition to the milkshakes, candy and other snacks, you’ll find craft beer, pizza by the slice from the Village Bagel, or a Smokin' J’s BBQ brisket sandwich made with burnt ends and house made pimento cheese on a local challah roll! Located in Riverwalk at Edwards at 34253 US-6. 970.855.2182. The Capital Theatre in Eagle is located at 1140 Capitol Street. 970.328.5709.

Snowmobile Tour

Nova Guides

Since 1984, Nova Guides has been a provider of year-round outdoor adventures with an array of exciting activities both winter and summer, providing door-to-door transportation for most of their excursions. New Ski-Doo snowmobiles are fully automatic and easy to operate. Two-hour snowmobile trips take off from their Tigiwon location, where kids 14 years or older can drive their own snowmobile, and children as young as two can ride as a passenger with a midway break for cocoa and cookies.

Their primary location is located within the White River National Forest at Historic Camp Hale, where you’ll reach elevations of 12,500 feet for the ultimate in high-altitude adventures. Half and full-day snowmobiling are their “The Top of the Rockies” tours where miles of open trails and 360-degree views feature four surrounding mountain ranges, and the Continental Divide! These tours include lunch at their own McAlistar Grill. Enjoy a buffalo burger or their ‘Eagle River Reuben’ and peruse the historical memorabilia at this beautiful lodge setting.

A heated snow coach is perfect for those who want to enjoy the beauty but prefer to travel in warmth and comfort in the winter! Take in the stunning views of the tallest peaks in Colorado and learn about historic Camp Hale as you travel through the training grounds of the famed WWII 10th Mountain Division soldiers.

During the warmer months, ATV, side-by-side and Jeep tours are offered. You can also try your hand at archery or practice casting with guided fishing on private waters. Trips operate seven days a week in season. Visit NovaGuides.com or call 719.486.2656 for details and reservations.
